Val and Eli take us on a tour of their magical permagarden in Jacksonville FL. They have created a wonderful, natural space filled with self-sustaining fruits, vegetables, herbs, medicines, colors, water, fragrances, and wildlife. This is the very best fast food!

They started by sheet mulching across their entire property. That is laying cardboard over the entire lawn, followed by organic material about a foot & a half thick, mainly wood chips & leaves, basically whatever was free & local. They then started building up the vegetation into a really amazing garden.

Self Sufficient Backyard

In all that time an electric wire has never been connected to our house. We haven’t gotten or paid an electricity bill in over 40 years, but we have all the electricity we want.
