The Last Harvest – Life & Soil On Planet Earth...

Life, nature, environment and food chains on planet Earth all rely on soil. Can science reverse some of the worst damage done to earth? Soil is the basis for human life on our planet as we know it. Yet soil is something we take for granted and it is full of life that most people don’t know of.

Soil contains 80% of the biomass of the world. The documentary below ‘The Last Harvest’ follows scientists and farmers who are trying to find out how to reverse some of the worst damage done to the earth in the form of desertification, soil erosion, soil contamination, biodiversity loss, loss of organic matter and soil sealing.

Researchers in England say that if our model of production does not change we have as few as 100 harvests left. UN research gives us another 60 years. The Last Harvest takes us around the world, to places including France, Spain, the UK, Sweden and the US, as it investigates this super organism that we are completely dependent on – earth.
